Lead Systems Engineer

Leidos•Huntsville, AL

About The Position

Leidos Defense is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join the IFPC Inc 2 systems engineering team. IFPC Inc 2 is a ground-based, mobile system designed to combat cruise missiles and unmanned aircraft systems, protecting civilian and military infrastructure and bridging tactical short-range air defense systems and strategic systems. The Lead Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership for a large systems engineering team, including requirements, verification, and architecture leads. The role guides the vision for the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) model and weapon system architecture; manages and reports team output and progress; supports proposals and new program efforts; and serves as a technical liaison with customer representatives. The position also oversees key systems engineering artifacts and deliverables, coordinates work across functional areas, and ensures technical execution aligns with program objectives, budget, and schedule. This highly visible position supports fielding an innovative ground-based defense system within a matrixed organization. When the program ends, the engineer may have the opportunity to support another program in the engineering portfolio. Experience in MBSE, safety engineering, or reliability analysis is preferred, while traditional systems engineering experience and technical leadership are required.
