About The Position

AMD is seeking a Lead Systems Debug Engineer to provide technical leadership for system bring-up, validation, and debug of next-generation datacenter GPU platforms. This role will drive platform readiness across hardware, firmware, software, networking, power, and SoC subsystems while leading root-cause analysis and resolution efforts. The ideal candidate will define validation strategies, develop debug methodologies, document bring-up processes, and collaborate across functional teams to ensure robust platform performance and production readiness. You are a hands-on technical leader with strong problem-solving, communication, and debugging skills. You thrive in complex environments, enjoy tackling challenging hardware/software integration issues, and can effectively coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines. Experience debugging complex HW/FW issues is required, along with a strong understanding of GPU systems, including PCIe, HBM, retimers, power delivery, networking, and SoC subsystems. Datacenter hardware experience and the ability to drive issues to closure are essential.

Requirements

  • Experience debugging complex HW/FW issues
  • Strong understanding of GPU systems, including PCIe, HBM, retimers, power delivery, networking, and SoC subsystems.
  • Datacenter hardware experience
  • Ability to drive issues to closure
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in system-level or SoC debug, validation, and triage.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in SoC or system-level debug and validation.
  • Strong knowledge of GPU architecture and platform components (PCIe, HBM, retimers, power systems, networking).
  • Expertise with industry-standard debug tools, oscilloscopes, and board-level diagnostics.
  • Experience developing debug capabilities, validation methodologies, and production qualification processes.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, or Python.
  • Familiarity with Agile development, Git, cloud infrastructure, and database technologies.
  • Proven ability to resolve critical issues in lab, manufacturing, customer, or datacenter environments.
  • Strong customer-facing and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead system bring-up, validation, and debug activities for datacenter GPU platforms.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex hardware, firmware, and software issues.
  • Develop validation plans, debug processes, and technical documentation.
  • Perform hands-on board-level analysis, including power, electrical, and system validation.
  • Collaborate with architecture, software, firmware, and hardware teams to ensure platform readiness.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership while fostering a culture of collaboration and operational excellence.
