About The Position

The Lead Switchgear Production Tech is responsible for directing work efforts, guiding, monitoring, and leading a team or department. Under the direction of their manager, they are responsible for motivating their teammates and inspiring positive communication to achieve goals such as production and safety. This role involves a high degree of visibility and access to employees on the shop floor and customer job sites throughout the shift. The Lead will also be involved in mentoring, coaching, auditing performance quality, and building training plans for direct reports, ensuring staff is motivated and productive. Additionally, they will cultivate and maintain customer relationships and work with local leadership to implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
  • Thorough understanding of heavy industrial, utility, large commercial, renewable energy, and ability to troubleshoot complex business issues.
  • Understanding of shipping, inventory, and site-specific procedures and contacts.
  • Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
  • Work may require flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Field Leads-Must be available for out-of-town work.
  • Strong communication (written and oral).
  • Able to communicate with a variety of individuals and departments.
  • Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work with various people throughout the organization-Customer Focused.
  • Focus on accuracy and efficiencies.
  • For positions that utilize a company vehicle, will be required to have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out day-to-day tasks and duties as other employees in the department.
  • Communicating and collaborating with other team members, giving out work assignments and scheduling work as needed.
  • Leading by example, following all department, company, customer, state, and federal laws/procedures.
  • Ensuring the team has necessary equipment and tools to complete tasks and scheduling equipment maintenance as required.
  • Completing specific reports, forms, and other information required by the department/division, such as customer reports, packing slips, proofs of delivery, and safety forms.
  • Participating in the interview process for new team members based on need.
  • Mentoring and coaching the team of technicians.
  • Auditing performance quality and building training plans for direct reports.
  • Ensuring staff is motivated and productive.
  • Cultivating and maintaining customer relationships with internal customers, external customers, and vendors.
  • Conducting client communication in a highly customer service-oriented manner.
  • Working with local leadership to ensure continuous improvement strategic business initiatives are implemented and maintained.
  • Reporting any employee, team, WC, safety, or other concerns to the manager in a timely manner.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
