About The Position

The Lead Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing expert-level support in surgical procedures while overseeing coordination of instrumentation, implants, and vendor communication. This role ensures operational readiness, maintains high standards of surgical support, and facilitates efficient workflow across the operating room, Sterile Processing Department (SPD), and materials management. The Lead Surgical Technologist demonstrates superior knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques in the role of the first scrub. Anticipates variances from expected outcomes and responds to patient needs immediately. Demonstrates leadership abilities.

Requirements

• Minimum of three years’ progressive experience in the operating room (OR) as a Surgical Tech
• Surgical Technology certification is required
• Current registration and eligibility to practice as a Surgical Tech in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon start
• Comprehensive knowledge of instrumentation, implants, and surgical procedures
• Advanced understanding of vendor products, systems, and availability
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure to ensure the safety and efficiency of surgical operations

Nice To Haves

• Five years or more experience is preferred
• Prior experience in a Lead Surgical Tech role is desirable
