About The Position

The Lead Summer Housing Assistant will reside on campus overnight to supervise Project ACE high school students and serve as the lead for the Summer Housing Assistants during the Upward Bound residential week at UCF main campus. This is a unique job opportunity for people who enjoy working with high school students and have group leadership skills. This position will work up to 40 hours per week at $22.00/hr. The residential program will be held from Sunday, July 5, 2026 through Thursday, July 9, 2026 at UCF. This position will work a split shift between designated evening and morning hours.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and one year previous resident assistant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification upon hire or provide proof of current/unexpired CPR/First Aid certification.
  • This position requires a Level 2 Background Check through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Clearinghouse prior to employment.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Responsibilities

  • Reside at UCF campus overnight (1-week stay) to lead the Summer Housing Assistants (SHAs) for the Project ACE program; ensure that summer housing staff adhere to the evening schedule established by the Manager.
  • Assist in monitoring students' arrival on Sunday and departure on Thursday.
  • Facilitate positive and supportive relationships with Project ACE students.
  • Make sure students are ready for breakfast; escort students for breakfast and dinner meal breaks and maintain a proper staff-to-student supervision ratio throughout summer residential week.
  • Organize and lead student discussion sessions and other social activities during the evening to promote student wellness and team building.
  • Address discipline issues identified by SHAs and address them in collaboration with the Manager and the Coordinator.
  • Implement and enforce residence hall and college policies and safety procedures; maintain ethical standards of conduct in accordance with UCF Youth Protection Policy; conduct nightly room checks.
  • Distribute and return room keys upon student check-in and check-out.
  • Ensures SHAs are on task and updated on any schedule changes.
  • Ensures SHAs are up and ready to receive students for breakfast, dinner and free time activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
