About The Position

Slide Insurance is seeking a Lead Staff Counsel to join their team. This role involves leading and mentoring a team of Staff Counsel, partnering with Claims leadership on litigation strategy, and overseeing the team's litigation portfolio. The Lead Staff Counsel will also provide legal guidance, identify litigation risks, and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and active Florida Bar membership in good standing
• 8+ years of litigation experience, including significant insurance litigation and 5+ years handling Florida first-party property claims
• 2+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of mentoring and developing attorneys
• Strong knowledge of Florida insurance law, civil procedure, evidence rules, and professional responsibility standards
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex litigation, evaluate risk, negotiate effectively, and guide legal strategy
• Trial experience, including jury trial participation
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Staff Counsel, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
• Partner with Claims leadership to align litigation strategy, case evaluation, and settlement practices
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex and high-exposure matters
• Monitor litigation performance, exposure trends, and case progression across the team's portfolio
• Conduct file reviews and provide strategic direction on discovery, mediation, and trial readiness
• Coordinate with Trial Counsel to ensure matters are appropriately prepared for trial
• Provide timely legal guidance and recommendations to Claims and business partners
• Identify litigation risks and recommend strategies to support favorable outcomes
• Promote compliance with court requirements, ethical obligations, and company litigation standards
