About The Position

In addition to performing all duties of the Sterile Processing Tech I & II, the Lead Sterile Processing Tech will assist in supervising assigned shifts and staff. The Lead Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for precepting new employees, acting as a resource for the department, communicating with the Operating Room in a timely and professional manner, and supervising workflow. The Lead Sterile Processing Tech will also be asked to participate in the hiring process, evaluations, and disciplinary actions, as well as assist with employee grievances. The Lead Sterile Processing Tech may also be called upon to take SPD Supervisor duties when necessary. This position's work location is on site.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED- Required
  • CRCST/CBSPD Certification- Required
  • Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
  • Recent experience as a Sterile Processing Tech or Surgical Tech- Required
  • Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from an accredited Sterile Processing program or other higher education- Preferred
  • CSPM/CHL Certification- Preferred
  • Certification as an Instrument Specialist- Preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience- Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned shifts and staff, including managing workflow to meet demand.
  • Seek out and participate in mentoring opportunities.
  • Demonstrates ability to keep open communication(s) with the operating room at all times.
  • Participate in educating staff on new equipment, methods, and procedures.
  • Be an active part in designing and enforcing policies and procedures relevant to Sterile Processing.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
  • Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
  • If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
  • Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training within the specified time frame.
