About The Position

A Solution Architect in AT&T’s Business Architecture practice plays a high-impact, cross-functional role, blending technical system design, business capability alignment, and increasingly AI-enabled analysis. Their day spans discovery, design, governance, stakeholder communication, and ongoing architectural oversight—ensuring that technology solutions support AT&T’s strategic and operational goals. Perform end-to-end solution design across capabilities, applications, and organizational boundaries to ensure cohesive, high-quality, scalable architecture. Use enterprise repositories (e.g., Sparx, capability maps, knowledge platforms) to understand dependencies and assess upstream/downstream impact. Collaboration Across Stakeholders, engage business, product, technology, and operational teams to ensure clear understanding of capability needs, system impacts, and business priorities. This includes close alignment with Business Architects, Product teams, and System Architects. Facilitate cross-functional discussions to connect strategic outcomes with implementation teams, often using capability models and value-stream insights. Ensure solutions align to the Target Architecture, contributing to long-term sustainability and reduced implementation cost. Identify and manage technical debt and ensure architectural decisions are compliant with standards, patterns, and domain roadmaps. Leverage AI to Improve Efficiency by using AI-driven analysis to accelerate solutioning, reduce repetitive tasks, and identify impacted product teams early. Daily activities increasingly include validating AI results and integrating them into solution workflows. Work with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solutions map cleanly to business capabilities, stakeholder needs, and value flows across domains. Examples include capability modeling, reliability considerations, and stakeholder mapping. Provide insight for prioritization and strategic planning based on capability health, performance gaps, or ecosystem impacts. Lead customer journey mapping initiatives and translate journeys into system interactions, capabilities, and solution designs Embed resiliency, observability, and performance engineering into all solution designs Ensure systems meet high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability requirements Support Agile and DevOps teams in implementing architecture solutions Provide technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, ensuring alignment to architecture vision.

Requirements

  • Requires 5 – 8 years’ experience in systems engineering or technical business management role
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Experience with cloud computing.
  • Experience in SQL, Data mapping, API, SFTP, HTTP(s) protocols
  • Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an Agile environment.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Expertise in business capability modeling, value stream mapping, and process modeling
  • Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban)
  • Experience mapping and optimizing end-to-end customer journeys and aligning technology solutions to customer experience outcomes
  • Ability to connect business capabilities and system interactions to customer journeys (e.g., journey mapping frameworks, E2EUX concepts)
  • Experience evaluating and implementing emerging technologies (e.g., AI/GenAI, automation, digital platforms)

  • Preferred degrees in Engineering, Information Systems or related technical fields.
