Lead Software Engineer - Python, Credit Trading Technology
About The Position
As a Lead Software Engineer on JPMorganChase’s Commercial & Investment Bank Credit Trading Technology team, you will contribute to an agile team that builds, enhances, and delivers secure, stable, scalable technology products. You will design, develop, troubleshoot, and support critical technology solutions across technical areas in support of business objectives. The role focuses on building AI-enabled systems to expand electronic trading capabilities, including scalable AI platforms and modernization of existing systems using approved AI tooling. You will work directly with Credit Sales and Trading and Product teams, develop production-quality systems hands-on, and help improve operational reliability. You will also guide adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, establish standards for validating AI outputs, and promote safe, secure, and effective use of these tools across the team. Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
- Advanced hands-on Python experience, including system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Hands-on experience with artificial intelligence components and their application in modern technology stacks.
- Practical cloud-native experience, including foundational knowledge of AWS services and cloud engineering practices.
- Proficiency in automation, continuous delivery methods, and all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency across modern software engineering disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
- Experience working with business and product partners to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for activities such as coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to coach engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical, Product, and business teams.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, taking approaches beyond routine or conventional methods to solve technical problems.
- Build and support AI-enabled systems that expand electronic trading capabilities, including scalable AI platforms and modernization of existing systems using approved AI tooling.
- Partner with Credit Sales and Trading and Product teams to understand business strategy and deliver impactful technical solutions.
- Architect and build new systems hands-on using modern engineering practices; develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability, and partner with support teams to ensure production reliability and timely issue resolution.
- Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical capabilities, and fit with existing systems and information architecture.
- Lead Software Engineering communities of practice to increase awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
- Establish consistent validation standards for AI-assisted engineering, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective patterns across the team.
- Use Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools, to improve the value realized from automation.
