About The Position

This individual will serve as both a technical leader and hands-on developer, managing a team of three software engineers while collaborating directly with researchers, veterinarians, administrators, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable software solutions. The Lead Software Engineer will oversee the full software development lifecycle, including architecture, development, testing, deployment, code reviews, and ongoing application support. The role will support the organization's primary Animal Resource Management System (ARMS), a custom-built platform that manages veterinary, research, and operational data, as well as additional business applications focused on workflow automation, reporting, and process improvement. The selected candidate will also help drive modernization efforts involving the migration of legacy .NET applications into a modern Node.js-based architecture. This is a direct-hire opportunity based in Atlanta, GA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • At least 2 years of leadership or people management experience.
  • Strong experience with Node.js.
  • Strong experience with JavaScript.
  • Strong experience with Vue.js or React.js.
  • Strong experience with GraphQL.
  • Strong experience with Oracle.
  • Strong experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs.
  • Strong experience with full-stack web application development.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience mentoring developers.
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Support reporting and analytics solutions within enterprise application environments.
  • Work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Regularly collaborate with stakeholders on-site in Atlanta.
