As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking - Equities Electronic Trading Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Requirements

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts, computer science, computer engineering and 5+ years applied experience
Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
Have excellent knowledge of at least one mainstream software development language i.e. : Java / C++ / Python / GO / Kotlin / TypeScript / C#, etc..
Hands on experience with FinOps
Experience with AI
Proficiency in low latency, real-time, scalable trading systems, and familiarity with algorithmic trading, including systematic trading
Ability to work effectively within a global team (spread across NA, EMEA, APAC) while influencing and contributing to the buildout of Equities technology org
Have overall understanding of 'what's the proper way of building efficient software' - and the implications of circumventing the guardrails which are in place.
Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
Familiar with CI/CD and understand what, why, where, how, when it comes to using one of the following i.e., Jenkins, TeamCity, etc.
Knowledge around building/dealing with high throughput messaging APIs, middleware products

Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

Responsibilities

Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
Identify opportunities to eliminate toil or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
Understand the requirements and challenges facing our developers from CI/CD perspective
Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
