Lead Software Engineer
About The Position
Our client is a fast-growing, Series B AI company building products for go-to-market teams, backed by top-tier investors, with a platform already running in production for 100+ customer teams. They're scaling their New York engineering presence and hiring a Lead Software Engineer to work on some of the hardest technical problems on the platform: distributed systems at real production scale, running in Go, with AI-assisted development tooling built into the daily workflow. This is a senior IC role, not a management track. You'll be one of a small number of the most senior engineers in the New York office, working alongside a team that's growing quickly. The Technical Problem The team is tackling agentic, real-time systems that need to run reliably at scale, in a stack built on Go, Kubernetes, and Temporal, with AWS and GCP underneath. The problems here aren't the kind with clean spec sheets. You'll be working close to the product itself, not buried three layers deep in internal tooling.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of meaningful technical ownership, title matters less than evidence
- 3+ years of tenure at a single company
- Proven experience personally driving architectural decisions at production scale
- Deep, hands-on experience with distributed systems in production
- Strong proficiency in Go as a primary production language
- Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tools (Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as a genuine part of your workflow
- A clear bias toward product engineering, you care about the user and the outcome, not just the elegance of the system
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Temporal or similar workflow orchestration frameworks
- A builder track record outside of work, side projects, open source, or anything you ship for the love of it
- Domain background in sales tech, conversational AI, CRM integration, or revenue intelligence
- Prior experience as a formal technical lead or staff engineer
