About The Position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Level 5) to join the devices team developing next-generation radio platform software. This critical role sits at the intersection of complex embedded real-time software engineering and modern, cutting-edge AI-driven development methodologies. As a technical leader, you will design robust architectures for tactical communications while leveraging AI tools to accelerate the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The ideal candidate brings mastery of embedded Linux and Android operating systems, along with a passion for driving engineering excellence in a collaborative Agile Environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Proven hands-on track record developing embedded software architectures utilizing Linux and Android distributions.
  • 2+ years of experience acting as technical lead.
  • Expert-level proficiency in C and modern C++ for real-time operating systems (RTOS) and embedded environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep understanding of tactical radio communication protocols, digital signal processing (DSP), and waveform design.
  • Experience with Linux kernel modification, custom U-Boot configuration, and hardware debugging tools (e.g., JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Familiarity with Android Open-Source Project (AOSP) customization or Android HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) development.
  • Strong background in automated test environments, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and DevOps workflows.
  • Practical experience integrating generative AI or AI-assisted development tools within a professional software environment.
