About The Position

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking Operations Dispute technology, you will contribute to an agile team that builds and enhances secure, stable, scalable technology products. You will lead technical work across multiple areas in support of business objectives, including developing and modernizing high-volume financial transaction systems and cloud infrastructure. The role combines hands-on full-stack engineering with technical leadership, architecture decisions, delivery coordination, production support, and responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience building enterprise-grade applications.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful API design, and microservices architecture, including experience designing highly scalable distributed systems for high-availability production environments.
  • Strong experience with AWS services including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, and CloudWatch, and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Proficiency in React JS, including Redux or Context API state management, component design patterns, and modern JavaScript.
  • Experience implementing event-driven architectures using message queues such as SQS/SNS, streaming platforms such as Kafka or AWS MSK, and asynchronous processing for high-throughput systems.
  • Strong understanding of application security, including OAuth2/JWT authentication, encryption at rest and in transit, secrets management, and secure API design.
  • Experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, testing, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
  • Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, continuous delivery, end-to-end automation, and automated deployment using modern DevOps tools and practices.
  • Proficiency in test-driven development, unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies, and code quality practices.
  • Expertise in application resiliency patterns such as circuit breakers, retries, timeouts, and bulkheads, as well as observability and production monitoring using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace, and CloudWatch.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the financial services industry, regulatory requirements, and related IT systems.
  • Experience with Agentic AI solutions, machine learning model integration, or AI-powered automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to Camunda BPMN or other workflow orchestration engines for complex business process automation.
  • Experience with GraphQL API design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable, fault-tolerant, mission-critical distributed systems and cloud modernization initiatives for high-volume financial transactions.
  • Drive technical design decisions and long-term architecture strategy, including technology stack, architectural patterns, infrastructure solutions, and evaluation of emerging technologies.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership for full-stack development, guide engineers through complex technical challenges, lead code review excellence, and promote engineering best practices.
  • Ensure code quality and security through automated testing, static code analysis, and vulnerability scanning.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, establish standards for validating AI outputs, and promote reuse of effective patterns.
  • Use Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools, to improve the value of automation.
  • Collaborate with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and delivery roadmaps.
  • Coordinate technical scope, API contracts, integration patterns, cross-team dependencies, and end-to-end delivery plans with engineering teams across the organization.
  • Drive delivery across concurrent initiatives while balancing technical debt, feature development, and operational stability.
  • Establish and maintain logging, monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing to support reliability and incident resolution.
  • Provide L3 production support and act as a technical escalation point, collaborating with operations teams on incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and system stability.
