About The Position

Green Dot Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to rearchitect its Banking as a Service (BaaS) platform using cloud-native techniques and build the next generation banking and payments platform. The role contributes to continuous integration, continuous delivery, cloud migration, and test-driven development; designs highly scalable distributed solutions; and leads complex integration work involving API contracts, gap analysis, and solution design. The engineer documents and demonstrates solutions using flowcharts, sequence diagrams, and business process flow diagrams, and organizes working sessions to drive discussions toward resolution and delegate actions. The role owns a component or capability during project delivery and ensures software quality, maintainability, scalability, availability, extensibility, security, portability, and testability. It partners with product teams, identifies and addresses technical debt, evaluates evolving technologies and patterns, and participates in code reviews while coaching and learning from team members. The position leads API and microservice design and development for BaaS onboarding and partner integration, contributes to platform architecture and long-term technical strategy, and drives engineering practices in CI/CD, testing, and observability. It also supports SLA compliance, monitoring and alerting, incident response, root cause analysis, codebase improvements, and configurable, change-ready systems. Candidates must reside in West Los Angeles, California, and be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
