About The Position

The Lead Software Developer designs, develops, tests, debugs, and enhances software solutions of moderate complexity. The role collaborates across disciplines to translate technical concepts into actionable approaches and deliver reliable, high-quality software. The developer works with stakeholders and release teams, applies modern engineering practices and approved AI-assisted development tools, and uses rigorous testing to support innovation and dependable connectivity. This is a work-from-home position within the United States.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience with a bachelor's degree, or at least 4 years of experience with a master's degree.
• Strong AI proficiency, including practical use of approved AI-assisted development tools for requirements analysis, coding, documentation, code review, test generation, and productivity improvement.
• Strong unit and system testing mindset, including test planning, automated test development, regression validation, defect prevention, and production-quality release discipline.
• Ability to collaborate in Agile team environments, communicate technical tradeoffs clearly, participate in code reviews, and support shared ownership of delivery outcomes.
• Proficiency in Java, REST API, API management, MySQL, Python, GitHub/Actions, Jenkins, Kubernetes, Kafka, and working within hosted environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of optical DWDM.
• Knowledge of Ruby on Rails.

Responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and document programs and software changes or enhancements.
• Write testable and scalable code.
• Design and maintain unit, system, integration, and regression tests to validate code quality, reduce defect escape, and improve release readiness.
• Use approved AI tools and AI-assisted development practices to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, test coverage, and problem analysis, applying sound engineering judgment.
• Analyze programming requests to assist with integration into current applications.
• Support project implementation, research and evaluate problems, and recommend and implement decisions.
• Conduct training to provide technical expertise to end users.
• Estimate timelines for assigned projects and complete work within the estimates provided.
• Collaborate with team members, product owners, QA, operations, and release teams to align code with standards, sprint commitments, release trains, and production-readiness expectations.
• Enable code in hosted environments.
