About The Position

The Threat Systems Development Branch of Leidos Defense Sensors is seeking a talented Software Architecture Section Manager to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. The Branch is a group of engineers who specialize in foreign threat radar systems, RF software-in-the-loop (SIL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) simulators, and open-air radar development. The candidate selected for this position will support projects for the Defense Intelligence Community, Air Force, and large prime contractors.

Requirements

  • 12+ years relevant experience with a related BS degree or an MS in a related field with 10+ years relevant experience
  • Must have experience managing software processes
  • Must have experience working in a lab environment
  • Must have experience with customer/stakeholder interaction and technical meetings
  • Must be at an expert level with C++ coding
  • Must have Windows operating systems and programming
  • Must have LINUX operating systems and programming
  • Software Architecture Design experience is required
  • Must have experience mentoring more junior team members
  • Must have experience with detailed code review
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) Secret clearance.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the area.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a section manager responsible for personnel management.
  • Regularly communicate with direct reports to ensure personnel have adequate tasking.
  • Monitor and approve employee timesheets.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals in accordance with established timelines.
  • Development of C++ simulations of radar and missile systems in both software-based and hardware-in-the-loop configurations in a variety of environments including Windows, Linux, and hard real-time operating systems.
  • Development of C# or LAN web-based custom graphical user-interface tools to support simulation control and real-time visualization of simulation results.
  • Integration of simulations into customer software environments through software interface development and plugin development.
  • Creation of deployable professional software deliveries with supporting documentation including version descriptions, test results, and robust installation tools.
  • Development of continuous build and test toolsets to perform automated release candidate generation and verification.
  • Collaboration with external customers to elicit requirements and define project goals.
  • Convince others to accept area’s view/current practices and agree/accept new concepts, practices and approaches.
