Summary/Objectives The Lead Skills trainer provides leadership at a substance abuse treatment facility and will work closely with the Program Director to support a high-quality program that is person-centered and meets contractual obligations. This position oversees all duties performed by Skills Trainers and provides shift coverage every week.

Requirements

  • An Associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience. Or High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of four (4) years related experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Proficient with a variety of computer software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Suite and desktop publishing.
  • Must obtain and maintain valid certifications for the following training within the first 30 days of employment. (Training for certification will be offered in the house) CPR / First Aid Mental Health First Aid MANDT
  • Ability to effectively work with a variety of computer software programs, including Microsoft
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to regularly and effectively deal with the public and clients; able to be assertive/directive when necessary
  • Effective organizational skills
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines under pressure, and maintain a professional demeanor
  • Ability to direct others and oversee others' activities
  • Continuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of servant leadership and our cultural values

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's degree in human services with one (1) year of related experience.
  • Human services training and supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight supervision for Skills Trainers and assist the Program Director by participating in hiring and scheduling
  • Provide initial competency-based training to all new staff and ensure annual required training is scheduled and provided
  • Participate in on-call rotation
  • Assist and support chemical dependency clients during all phases of recovery
  • Ensure all paperwork submitted by staff is complete and timely (i.e., medication information, incident reports, progress notes, house activity notes, etc.)
  • Conduct facility visual checks to inspect for health/safety issues and observe client behavior.
  • Ensure emergency drills are executed and documented, and in compliance with established protocols
  • Continuously monitor staff/patient interactions and ensure the patients' mental and physical care needs are met.
  • Ensure effective and compliant searches are conducted
  • Perform drug and alcohol testing
  • Perform Skills Trainer duties
  • Follow the organization's on-call reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the clients' counselor to aid clients with questions and concerns regarding program participation and clarification
  • Maintain strict client confidentiality as defined by HIPAA policies and 42 CFR regulations
