About The Position

MWVCAA is seeking a mission-driven individual to join their team as a Lead Site Assistant (Float) at ARCHES Lodge. This role provides direct support to the homeless population in Polk and Marion counties, assisting with daily operations, client navigation to resources, and clerical duties. The Lead Site Assistant will also be responsible for training staff and volunteers, and providing leadership during urgent situations when management is unavailable. This position offers growth opportunities and professional development through hands-on experience. The schedule is Wednesday to Sunday, graveyard shift, with required flexibility.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in customer service, social services, or other client-facing roles.
  • Driver qualifications are required for this position.
  • Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the previous three years are required.
  • Candidate must pass a comprehensive MWVCAA background screening prior to employment.
  • Candidate must pass Oregon Department of Human Services criminal background check.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings.
  • Basic Life Support/First Aid Certification is required within first 30 days of hire.
  • Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Demonstrated proficiencies in Microsoft Office (including Outlook), videoconferencing platforms, and web tools.
  • Exhibits a positive attitude and engages with others in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Demonstrates tact, diplomacy and empathy when communicating formally and informally with clients, staff and program partners.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliable attendance are essential requirements for this role.
  • Ability to work effectively and maintain positive, professional relationships with team members and clients.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability/flexibility to accept work shifts or trade shifts with short notice (for example, same day for a call-out).

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support to sheltering services for the homeless population at ARCHES shelters in Polk and Marion counties.
  • Supporting daily operations, including cleaning and laundry services, clerical duties, data collection & entry.
  • Assisting clients with navigation to resources, answering client questions and other special projects as needed.
  • Training and updating Site Assistants and volunteers on applicable policies and procedures.
  • Exercising strong decision-making skills while providing leadership when urgent matters arise while management is not available or on site.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for the respective work shift.
  • Facilitating communication and collaboration between Site Assistants and volunteers.
  • Focusing the team toward primary program goals and exemplifying the positive culture.
  • Ensuring data collection and quality, and inputting service usage information into the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Shelter point.
  • Responding to guest questions about clothing, snacks, blankets, restrooms, charging stations and local resources.
  • Monitoring the program expectations of residents.
  • Providing program support, such as: cleaning, site upkeep, laundry and supportive services, client engagement and assistance, including answering the telephone, monitoring client and facility safety.
  • Assisting other staff and volunteers in providing a calm, clean, and safe environment for residents.
  • Sharing information, resources and referral about community partnerships and resources.
  • Promoting a safe and healing environment for individuals that are victims of trauma through trauma informed engagements, clear boundaries, and supportive case management.
  • Attending and engaging in required annual trainings and remaining up-to-date on policies and procedures for the ARCHES program.
  • Pursuing Program Critical Strategic Goals, including: Embracing the mission and philosophy of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, client-centered services, Coordinated Assessment, and Harm Reduction.
  • Performing cleaning, janitorial, and laundry tasks in support of day-to-day sheltering operations.
  • Supporting nutrition staff as needed by completing various kitchen tasks, including cooking meals.
  • Participating in Community Outreach to local organizations, camps, and groups as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients and coworkers at all times.
