Position Summary: The Lead Shipping Coordinator initiates, maintains, and compiles records associated with ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in distribution center.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office software, document management software and ability to navigating the Internet
  • Possesses interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Typically requires a minimum of 4 - 6 years of related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Promotes safety as the most important value in the organization by adhering to and enforcing all safety policies and procedures
  • Leads functional area in meeting key business metrics: cost, quality, safety, service and throughput
  • Assists with leadership to all distribution shareholders by motivating shareholders to meet and exceed facility standards
  • Ensures team processing all new orders timely; may include interacting with customers/hospitals/sales rep to ensure completion of orders, deliveries etc.
  • Communicates effectively with other departments and levels of management to the mutual benefit of the distribution center
  • Monitors all reports in support of material control activities and initiates all necessary actions to reconcile discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Initiates and facilitates investigations into causes of misdirected shipments, damage or shortages in shipments or overcharges in freight cost
  • Develops processes and procedures for inventory, receiving, shipping, and administrative responsibilities to improve cost and efficiencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned
