About The Position

The Lead Shipping Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all outbound shipping operations within a paper manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of finished goods while maintaining compliance with transportation regulations and customer requirements. The position requires strong coordination with production, warehouse, and customer service teams.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
3–5 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations, preferably in manufacturing
Knowledge of freight operations (LTL, FTL, flatbed, and/or rail)
Experience with ERP or warehouse management systems
Able to lift up to 50 pounds routinely
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) ERP, AS400, IBS system and general computer programs.
Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions

Nice To Haves

associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
Prior experience in a lead or senior role is a plus
Familiarity with paper manufacturing products and handling requirements preferred
Knowledge of international shipping and export compliance is a plus

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily shipping activities for finished paper products, including scheduling carriers, preparing documentation, and tracking shipments
Ensure on-time delivery performance while minimizing freight costs
Serve as the primary point of contact for shipping-related questions and issue resolution on the floor
Assist in prioritizing workloads and assigning tasks to shipping personnel based on production and delivery schedules
Collaborate closely with production and warehouse teams to align shipping schedules with manufacturing output
Prepare and review shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and export documentation
Communicate with carriers and logistics providers to arrange pickups and resolve scheduling issues
Support training of new employees and reinforce standard operating procedures
Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to ensure alignment of shipping schedules with output
Ensure proper handling and loading of paper products, including rolls and palletized materials
Manage relationships with carriers, freight brokers, and logistics providers
Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve delays, damages, or discrepancies
Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
Maintain accurate records in ERP/WMS systems
Analyze shipping data to identify trends and implement process improvements
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to logistics efficiency and cost reduction
