About The Position

Sheakley is seeking an experienced Lead Safety Manager to support a major Google Data Center construction project in Lima, Ohio. This is an exceptional opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys being a visible leader in the field, partnering directly with project leadership, and driving safety excellence on a large-scale, multi-contractor construction site. With a projected 3-4 year duration, this role offers rare project stability, consistent hours, and the opportunity to play a key leadership role throughout the lifecycle of a high-profile critical infrastructure project.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 Certification (Required)
  • 5+ Years of Construction Safety Experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, utility, infrastructure, or mission-critical projects
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA construction standards and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with excavation, trenching, underground utilities, or pipe installation activities
  • Understanding of crane safety, rigging operations, and heavy equipment hazards
  • Experience managing hot work activities and permit systems
  • Strong communication skills and leadership presence in the field
  • Ability to work 50-60 hours per week, Monday through Saturday
  • Available to start ASAP

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily safety oversight across active construction operations
  • Conduct field audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to identify risks before incidents occur
  • Monitor OSHA compliance and enforce project-specific safety requirements
  • Support excavation, trenching, utility, and pipe installation activities
  • Oversee crane operations, rigging activities, critical lifts, and heavy equipment movement
  • Review hot work permits and ensure proper fire prevention controls are implemented
  • Deliver orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training for employees and subcontractors
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses while driving corrective actions to completion
  • Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, reports, and compliance tracking
  • Partner with project leadership to foster a proactive, field-driven safety culture
