About The Position

We are building a legged quadruped robot that carries a human rider, starting from scratch. There is no platform to modify, no reference design to scale up, and no prior program here to inherit. You would be the technical owner of the machine as it comes into existence: architecture, actuation strategy, prototype hardware, and the locomotion control stack.

Requirements

  • Expertise in mechatronics, spanning mechanical design, motor control, and power electronics.
  • Experience with high-power electronics: Multi-kilowatt DC bus architecture, motor drive and inverter design or deep integration, battery pack and BMS selection, and thermal design.
  • Proficiency in motor control: Field-oriented control, torque control, encoder and current sensing, and real-time firmware on embedded targets.
  • Experience in actuation: High torque-density drivetrain design (motors, gearboxes, backdrivability).
  • Fluency in the practical stack: C++ and Python, a real-time control target, CAN or EtherCAT.
  • Experience with a trusted simulator and understanding its limitations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in EV and e-mobility powertrain work.
  • Experience in motor drive and inverter design.
  • Experience in industrial servo and actuator manufacturing.
  • Experience in legged robotics.

Responsibilities

  • Technical ownership of the machine from architecture to locomotion control stack.
  • Design and integration of high-power electronics, including DC bus architecture, motor drive and inverter, battery pack and BMS selection, and thermal design.
  • Implementation of motor control strategies such as field-oriented control and torque control.
  • Design of high torque-density drivetrains, considering motors, gearboxes, and backdrivability.
  • Development and deployment of real-time firmware on embedded targets.
  • Integration of control systems using C++ and Python, real-time control targets, and CAN or EtherCAT.
  • Utilizing and understanding the limits of simulation tools.
