Overall Purpose The Lead, Retention & Information Management (RIM) is responsible for the strategic oversight, governance, and continuous evolution of the Company’s enterprise RIM Program within the Second Line of Defense. This role ensures the effective management of information throughout its lifecycle to support regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, audit readiness, and operational efficiency. The Lead RIM serves as the enterprise subject matter expert on records and information governance and is accountable for the development, implementation, and ongoing maturity of RIM policies, standards, and controls. This role will also support the expansion of the RIM program into international jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with global regulatory and data governance requirements.

Requirements

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Information Management, Project Management or related field.
  • Typically a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in Records & Information Management, Information Governance, or a related field.
  • Experience in process management/project management
  • Advanced skills in MS Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Possesses a breadth of compliance knowledge and experience with an operational mindset and the ability to effectively integrate records management into business operations in a practical and effective manner.
  • A highly developed sense of judgement, with strong analytical skills to evaluate processes, determine gaps, identify regulatory obligations, and oversee resolution as required.
  • The ability to both grasp the ‘big picture’ while attending to the details.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; able to tailor messages depending on the audience; able to convey common records management principals and their values to others.
  • Experience with technology platforms/solutions common to supporting a Records & Information Management Program.
  • Act as an enabler to support interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Background and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of domestic and international records retention and data governance requirements.
  • Experience working with ARMA, CRM, EDRM, and Information Governance frameworks and principles.
  • Professional certifications such as CRM, IGP, or similar are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Company’s enterprise Records & Information Management (RIM) Program within the Second Line of Defense, ensuring effective governance and oversight.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain RIM policies, standards, and procedures that support regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management.
  • Perform ongoing assessments of RIM controls, processes, and practices to identify gaps, emerging risks, and opportunities for program maturity.
  • Provide independent review and challenge to ensure adherence to records retention, disposition, and information governance requirements.
  • Partner with 1st and 2nd line teams to align RIM practices with regulatory obligations and enterprise initiatives.
  • Support audit, regulatory examination, and litigation readiness through defensible records retention and disposal practices.
  • Collaborate with business units to embed RIM requirements into processes and systems and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and deliver training, guidance, and awareness to promote strong records management practices across the organization.
  • Support the expansion of the RIM program into international jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with global regulatory and data governance requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of program documentation and support continuous improvement and maturity of the RIM framework.
