About The Position

This role involves leading and coordinating shift operations for the Respiratory Therapy department at Columbia St. Mary's Milwaukee. The Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner will oversee daily workflow, delegate assignments, monitor task progress, and ensure team adherence to hospital policies and regulatory procedures. The position also requires delivering advanced clinical and emergency care, performing full Respiratory Therapist duties following age-specific guidelines, and providing rapid initial response in emergency situations. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring staff, serving as a technical and functional resource, and leading orientation, hands-on training, and skill development of assigned team members. The Lead Respiratory Care Practitioner will also support team performance and compliance by providing input for staff performance evaluations and consistently maintaining required annual mandatory competencies.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
