About The Position

The Lead Resident Life Partner is a key member of the DaySpring leadership team, providing both direct resident care and operational leadership within the residence. This position supports the Administrator and Resident Life Coordinator in maintaining high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, effective medication management, staff development, and successful daily operations. During assigned hours, the Lead Resident Life Partner serves as the shift leader and primary resource for Resident Life Partners. This individual provides guidance, coaching, training, and support while promoting teamwork, accountability, and a resident-centered environment consistent with DaySpring’s mission, values, and Christian philosophy of care.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least two years of experience providing direct care to older adults, individuals with dementia, or related populations.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team-lead experience within healthcare, assisted living, memory care, or a related environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, and mentor staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment and respond effectively during emergency situations.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and appropriate boundaries.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, physicians, pharmacies, staff members, healthcare providers, and community partners.
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule based on operational and staffing needs.
  • The ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Independently lift, transfer, push, pull, and reposition residents or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Assist with greater weights when additional help is available.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, twist, and climb as required to provide resident care.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and activities of daily living.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate equipment, administer medications, complete documentation, and perform resident-care activities.
  • Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through written documentation.
  • Visually assess residents, medication labels, records, documentation, and environmental conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), or an equivalent healthcare certification.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare, nursing, human services, gerontology, or a related field.
  • Experience using PointClickCare (PCC) or a similar electronic health-record system.
  • Experience working in assisted living, memory care, or long-term care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct assistance with residents’ activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, mobility, eating, and toileting.
  • Encourage residents to maintain as much independence as possible while providing appropriate support based on their individual abilities and care plans.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral conditions.
  • Ensure residents receive services consistent with their individualized service plans and physician orders.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to resident needs, emergencies, and safety concerns.
  • Maintain each resident’s dignity, rights, confidentiality, and privacy in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and other care needs as required.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, organizational policies, and applicable state regulations.
  • Assist with medication inventory management, including ordering, receiving, storage, documentation, and audits.
  • Monitor Medication Administration Records, including MAR and eMAR systems, for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate with pharmacies, physicians, and other healthcare providers regarding medication and treatment orders.
  • Assist with medication-administration training and staff competency verification as assigned.
  • Identify and appropriately communicate medication discrepancies, concerns, or documentation issues.
  • Serve as the shift supervisor and resource person for Resident Life Partners during assigned shifts.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, training, coaching, and work oversight.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor staff in providing compassionate, consistent, and resident-centered care.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training as requested.
  • Assist with staff in-service education and competency training.
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching to Resident Life Partners.
  • Participate in performance-management and corrective-action processes in collaboration with the Administrator and other designated leadership.
  • Complete corrective-action and performance-related documentation when required.
  • Monitor resident documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Assist with audits involving medications, resident records, care documentation, housekeeping logs, and quality-assurance initiatives.
  • Participate in resident care-planning meetings and interdisciplinary problem-solving discussions.
  • Ensure effective shift-to-shift communication and follow-through.
  • Communicate resident updates, medication counts, incidents, safety concerns, and care-coordination needs to the appropriate individuals.
  • Ensure incidents are reported and documented according to organizational requirements.
  • Participate in continuous quality-improvement activities and organizational initiatives.
  • Support the Administrator and Resident Life Coordinator with daily operational and staffing needs.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and licensing requirements.
  • Exercise sound judgment and respond effectively to unexpected situations, emergencies, and changing resident needs.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, training, coaching, and work oversight to Resident Life Partners during assigned shifts.
