About The Position

The Lead Rental Technician is the senior technical authority for large equipment maintenance, diagnostics, and customer readiness. This mobile lead role combines advanced mechanical repair, Tool rental associate training, Mobile Service Technician coordination, and fleet support. The role involves diagnosing, inspecting, and repairing gas/diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, fuel, and brake systems. Responsibilities include completing safety campaigns, PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) of new and existing equipment, assessing down tools, ordering parts, completing repairs, and updating leadership on critical timelines. The technician will also maintain GPS and track asset moves between locations and job sites, and ensure accurate driver logs, inspections, and provincial transportation compliance. Additionally, the role involves training and supporting rental associates and mobile service technicians on Large Equipment procedures and routine maintenance standards, and acting as an escalation contact for customer support, delivering job-site support within 24 hours.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years in heavy equipment, light industrial, or gas mechanical systems.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean record, and tandem-axle towing experience.
  • Skilled in complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
  • Able to read repair manuals, schematics, and parts guides.
  • Comfortable using smartphones, tablets, and diagnostic apps.
  • Must provide standard hand/trade tools.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, crawl, and climb onto equipment as needed.
  • Work outdoors in Canadian weather with exposure to noise, fumes, dirt, and grease.
  • Live within 25 km of the target location or be willing to commute.

Responsibilities
