Campus Veterinary Clinic is looking to hire a Lead Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team. Requirements

  • 3+ years’ experience working as a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant in a veterinary clinical hospital.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in California required – or eligibility to transfer/acquire state licensure within 3 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.
  • Compassionate and calm demeanor with animals and clients.
  • Experience with proper animal handling and restraint; Fear-Free and low stress handling preferred.
  • Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.
  • Strong pharmacology knowledge including dosages, routes, side effects and proper administration.
  • Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to handle stressful or emotional situations professionally.
  • Adaptable to working well with current doctors and team members.
  • Understands the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the PM with being a point of contact on the floor with the techs and DVM's.
  • Perform complete dental prophylaxis with radiographs.
  • Skilled in IV Catheter placement, urinary catheter placement, applying casts, bandages and splints.
  • General nursing care including fluid therapy, vital monitoring, pain assessment and management.
  • Anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience including intubation, monitoring, pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Laboratory skills including cytology set-up and interpretation; Idexx laboratory equipment.
  • Diagnostic experience including digital radiology, dental radiology, and ultrasound-guided cystocentesis.
  • Educating clients on animal care, medications, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
  • All other duties of a Registered Veterinary Technician as allowable by law.
