About The Position
The Lead Registered Nurse oversees nursing operations and supports and develops nursing staff while ensuring high-quality, person-centered care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The role combines clinical expertise with nursing leadership and includes coordinating care, providing clinical support, and advancing clinical quality and best practices. The position also involves local travel and responding to urgent needs.
Requirements
- Active RN license; multistate licensure preferred if applicable.
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing required.
- At least 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
- At least 1 year supporting IDD, developmental disabilities, or long-term care populations.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) documentation systems and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to manage priorities, travel locally, and respond to urgent needs.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Multistate RN license, if applicable.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to RNs and LVNs/LPNs.
- Coordinate care delivery and ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
- Provide direct clinical support when needed.
- Review assessments, care plans, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as a clinical resource for complex medical and behavioral cases.
- Partner with physicians, pharmacies, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead audits, incident reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational standards.
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of nursing staff.
