About The Position

The Lead Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing in the overall supervision of the nursing staff. Assists in the daily managing of processes and protocol according to federal and state guidelines, performs assigned regulatory audits as directed by the Director of Nursing, and maintains the nursing staff schedule.

Requirements

  • Valid, active, and unencumbered RN license from the State.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s level degree in nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a nurse in behavioral health care, substance abuse, or hospital setting.

  • 1 year substance abuse or mental health preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Managing standards of practice and care for nursing and medical providers for the facility.
  • Promotes and restores patients’ health by developing day-to-day management and long-term planning of patient care.
  • Directs, mentors, develops, and schedules staff, including communicating job expectations and providing performance reviews as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff to implement patient care.
  • Provides physical and psychological support for patients.
  • Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; and identifying system improvements.
  • Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and other people in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Maintains nursing guidelines by writing or executing policies and procedures.
  • Assures quality of standards of care, enforcing adherence to the state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations, measuring health outcomes against standards, and making or recommending adjustments.
  • Completes patient care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing and/or other facility staff; following up on duties assigned to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provides information to patients and/or members of the patient’s health care team by answering questions and/or requests.
  • Resolves patients’ needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations according to state and federal guidelines, calling for additional assistance from other health care professionals as needed.
  • Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and by enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
  • Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records as directed.
  • Maintains nursing supplies inventory by reviewing usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies, and approving requisitions and cost allocations.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Assist the Director of Nursing and other facility leaders upon request.
