About The Position

This role is for a Lead Registered Nurse in the Medical Surgical Unit at Columbia St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. The position is full-time, working nights. The nurse will use independent judgment to plan shifts, set daily priorities, and ensure adequate materials and supplies. They will also assign, direct, and monitor nursing and support staff, develop patient care assignments, assess daily patient care needs, and provide input into staff hiring, training, and evaluations. The role also involves managing patient care complaints.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Use independent judgment to plan shifts, set daily priorities based on patient/physician dynamics, and ensure adequate materials and supplies are available.
Assign, direct, and monitor nursing and support staff while developing and distributing patient care assignments that align with productivity standards.
Assess daily patient care needs to ensure population-appropriate care, and justify any productivity variances to the unit manager.
Provide input into staff hiring, training, and evaluations, and manage patient care complaints through established channels.
