About The Position

As a Lead, Ramp Attendant, you will make a difference to our passengers. You will help get their planes in and out on time by marshalling the aircraft. You will make sure that their bags travel with them safely to their destination. The passengers may not always see you working on the ramp, but you will make a difference for them. Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in all company computer applications as they pertain to the Ramp department
  • Assign duties to team members in a fair and equitable manner and assist with all duties
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviour that supports a customer service philosophy
  • Ability to successfully complete Porter Ramp Lead training program
  • Ability to successfully complete Porter Pushback Vehicle Proficiency program
  • Must possess valid Transportation Security Clearance
  • Possess a valid G2 license (or out of province equivalent) and be able to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator “D/A” Permit within 90 days of employment
  • Must obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator “D” Permit from local airport authority within the time specified by Department Manager
  • Ability to work on a permanent basis in Canada
  • Work rotating shifts including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Minimum one year experience with airport ramp operations
  • Maintain a good attendance record

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily coaching and mentoring of all ramp team members to create and promote an operationally safe environment
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient handling of all Porter, and Porter customer, aircraft from a ramp handling perspective; promoting a safe and efficient team environment
  • Perform all duties and functions of a Ramp Attendant (as outlined in the Porter Ramp Manual) where applicable
  • Ensure that ramp personnel are following proper Porter safety procedures as outlined in the Porter Ramp Manual by demonstrating proper work methods, conducting on-the-job training, and instructing/mentoring team members on Operational Procedures
  • Assign duties to team members in a fair and equitable manner and assist with all duties
  • Reporting of any safety, performance or operational concerns to a supervisor or manager
  • Provide written feedback on any performance and/or attendance issues/concerns for team members to a Ramp Supervisor/Manager
  • Responsible for maintaining safe on-time performance
  • Troubleshooting of ramp issues
  • Create and maintain a team environment on the Ramp
  • Must be capable of lifting/pushing/pulling up to 70lbs on a regular basis
  • Complete daily shift reports (where applicable)
  • Complete ground service equipment checks to determine maintenance requirements/damage and report any findings in FOA World
  • Actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System (SMS) including reporting hazards and incidents encountered in daily operations; understand, comply and promote the Company Safety Policy.
  • All other duties as assigned
