About The Position

The Lead Radiology Technologist plays a critical role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging services within a healthcare setting. This position is responsible for overseeing radiologic procedures, ensuring the accuracy and safety of imaging techniques, and leading a team of technologists to maintain operational excellence. The Lead Radiology Technologist collaborates closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide timely and precise diagnostic information that supports patient care. Additionally, this role involves managing workflow, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and implementing best practices to enhance imaging services. Ultimately, the Lead Radiology Technologist ensures that all radiologic services are performed efficiently, safely, and with the highest level of patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid certification as a Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent) in the United States.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in diagnostic radiology, including hands-on experience with multiple imaging modalities.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a radiology department or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety standards, patient care protocols, and healthcare compliance regulations.
  • Technical expertise in operating and troubleshooting advanced imaging equipment.
  • Leadership and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with healthcare information systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Sciences or Healthcare Administration.
  • Advanced certifications such as CT, MRI, or Mammography specialty certifications.
  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS).
  • Familiarity with quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Strong background in staff training, performance evaluation, and departmental budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise a variety of radiologic procedures including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other imaging modalities according to established protocols.
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of radiology technologists to ensure adherence to clinical standards and continuous professional development.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the radiology department to optimize patient scheduling, equipment utilization, and workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, radiation protection standards, and quality control measures to safeguard patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to review imaging results and support diagnostic accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.
  • Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new imaging technologies and departmental policies to improve service delivery.
