About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Lead Punch Out Technician to join our construction team. This role is critical in ensuring the final quality and completion of multi-family residential units prior to turnover. You’ll be responsible for identifying, repairing, and resolving punch list items, ensuring each unit meets company standards for workmanship, safety, and presentation. The Lead Punch Technician will divide their time between the workshop and job sites, where they will measure, cut, and shape various materials, including wood and drywall. Their responsibilities will encompass the finish out and final adjustments of framing, doors, windows, cabinetry, and drywall. Additionally, they will adjust frameworks for buildings, which include walls, floors, and door frames. Proficient in the use of both power and hand tools, the Lead Punch Technician will ensure that all work adheres to local building codes and safety regulations. The Lead Punch Technician plays a crucial role in transforming construction projects by adding the final touches that define the quality and aesthetic of a space. Their expertise ensures that all rough and finished elements are not only functional but also visually appealing, contributing significantly to the overall success of construction projects.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in carpentry, Drywall, Tape bed, and texture with a focus on finishes.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Skilled in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials, climbing, and working at various heights.
  • Exceptional precision and attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Strong analytical skills to address challenges and find practical solutions on the job.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, and clients professionally.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with technology, such as project management software or digital measuring tools.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust to changing project requirements or unexpected challenges is vital for maintaining workflow and meeting deadlines.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other construction workers and supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure project timelines are met.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is preferred.
  • Leadership: Experience in mentoring or training Junior Punch Technicians can be beneficial for fostering team growth and maintaining high standards.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide timely updates, and address any concerns that may arise during the project.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive walkthroughs of units and buildings to identify outstanding items on the punch list.
  • Complete minor repairs across multiple trades, including but not limited to carpentry, drywall, paint, plumbing, electrical, hardware, and flooring.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure the timely completion of outstanding work.
  • Track and update the punch list status, communicating progress to the project team.
  • Ensure final units are clean, functional, and meet all aesthetic and quality standards.
  • Report any recurring quality issues to the JPI Trades Superintendent for process improvement.
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site, adhering to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist with final inspections and resolve any issues noted by inspectors or ownership teams.
  • Measure and cut wood, drywall, and other materials.
  • Construct and adjust frameworks, including walls, doors, frames, windows, and staircases, ensuring precision and adherence to quality control (QC) specifications.
  • Adjust and repair cabinets, drywall, and other fixtures.
  • Repair and maintain existing structures.
  • Perform finish and trim carpentry, including the installation of moldings, baseboards, crown moldings, and other decorative elements to enhance interior aesthetics.
