About The Position

Responsible for properly executing security duties on assigned shift to adequately protect the lives and property of the Guests, Team Members, and Casino property. Also responsible for ensuring Officers are patrolling effectively to provide Guest, Team Member and asset protection when Public Safety Supervisor is unavailable.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
  • Must have successfully completed introductory period as a PSO, FTO, or EMT.
  • Must know Policies and Procedures and the Emergency Action Plan to efficiently handle fires, evacuations, robberies, and other situations, in a calm and professional manner.
  • Must be able to read electronic display panels on devices such as radios, cellular telephones, alarm systems, public address systems, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as identification cards, safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
  • Ability to apply common sense reasoning to a variety of situations and carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form in a professional manner.
  • Must possess organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • May be required to possess and maintain a valid California drivers license and a Black Oak Casino drivers permit.
  • Must be able to communicate using a portable 2-way radio and/or cell phone.
  • Must possess working knowledge of computer programs and applications.
  • Must be able to pass a mandatory drug test.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid gaming license.
  • Must provide evidence of employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

  • Generates necessary written reports regarding security-related incidents involving Guests, Team Members, theft, injury or property damage.
  • Leads and directs Public Safety Officers on assigned shift.
  • Facilitates the flow of information by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Operates Casino vehicle when directed to do so.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of Resort departments, areas, and facilities, as well as special events and promotions, in order to advise Guests, and assists fellow Team Members whenever possible.
  • Assists in emergency situations to efficiently handle fires, evacuations, robbery attempts, life threatening situations, etc.
  • Acts as an on-scene commander during emergency procedures until the Public Safety Supervisor is available.
  • Performs substance testing as a Certified Professional Collector.
  • Provides counseling and corrective action either verbally or written as required in a professional and fair manner when the Public Safety Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Monitors Officers during shift to ensure all areas are being patrolled.
  • Reviews all reports for accuracy and collects evidence as necessary.
  • Patrols the property on assigned shift, identifying potential security and/or safety hazards and reports them to the appropriate individual.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
