About The Position

The Lead, Program Management is responsible for project management functions related to the revitalizations, technical projects, and supporting the project managers and projects as needs arise. Typical assignments would include major ship projects such as revitalizations, and technical projects pertaining to ships main and ancillary equipment. Leader in project management of a diverse project portfolio with successful results. Management of projects varying scope from waterparks, machinery systems, guest facing venues, and more. Responsible for on time delivery, technical compliance, multi departmental alignment, and delivery within budget. Proven track record of injecting a “can-do” mindset into all projects to improve the shipbuilding product. Responsible for presenting and collaborating at the highest levels within the organization leading to corporate trust in projects undertaken.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Program Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience, with at least 2 years leading a team.
  • Strong leadership skills and proven experience in leading a small team of professionals.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills a must.
  • Clear and precise communication at all levels of the organization essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Strong ability to manage clients and partners.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills.
  • Must be familiar with the working drawing process inclusive of drawing, dimensioning and detailing deck plans, elevations, sections, and details.
  • Ability to understand and interpret architectural plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project required.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD system essential.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, business periodicals, financial reports, legal documents, and government regulations.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

  • Knowledge of CAR process: budget, approval, reconciliation, and reporting, AMOS, Niku, Lotus Notes Database, JDE, and Essbase.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively directs and drives ship technical projects so they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame, budget, and meet all safety and brand guidelines.
  • Liaises operating department representatives intimately involved in the Revitalization of a ship:  Hotel, Culinary, Marine, Design, Finance, Procurement, HR, IT, ShoreEx, Revenue, Sales & Marketing, Safety & Environment and ship yards.
  • Ensure operational requirements and ship configurations are compatible with SQM and way of working.
  • Manages vendors, to whom technical work is outsourced to, ensuring they meet our time, budget, safety and brand guidelines.
  • Create strong link to marine operations and ship's chief engineers to ensure final plans and designs will meet all operational needs. Identify and communicate restrictions and compromises that may be required due to budget or space limitations.
  • Develop cost reduction programs for projects.
  • Direct and coordinate at a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies.
  • Generate the project budget, including forecasting and planning, alongside the Program  Manager(s).
  • Review and comment, as appropriate on all project design proposals, feasibility studies, and construction plans, as needed.
  • Audit existing plans and prepare detailed report as needed.
  • As directed, visit vessels for familiarization projects and work being handled.
  • Stay current with technical research and projects development, and evaluate new technology for use across the fleet. Run test programs on new equipment in conjunction with ship personnel as directed.
  • In conjunction with the Program Manager, support planning, installation and follow up on all vessels.
  • Assist current project managers where needed. Act as a back-up for projects that may fall into trouble.
  • Stay current on SQM policy and be responsible for the timely correction of audit findings.
  • In conjunction with the Program  Manager, assist in the selection and installation of machinery, piping, electrical and all related class construction requirements and safety appliances to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company safety and environmental policies.
  • Assist in supervision of projects onboard.
  • Work on assigned special projects.
  • Responsible for execution of high risk and technical complexity projects
  • Management of 5 internal project manager resources
  • Workforce responsibility of over 300+ workers across all trades
  • Responsible for health, safety, and occupation well-being of all workers during drydocking window
  • Required for long duration field work with extensive working hours
  • Responsible for leadership level communication and collaboration to achieve the desired output of the project
  • Develop and drive project plan to ensure on time completion of the project
  • Act as liaison between multi-departmental organization to ensure a mutually aligned product at completion
  • Develop and review contracts to ensure a complete product at completion
  • Develop and review technical design to ensure technical compliance and safety of construction
  • Develop and integrate execution strategy between all contractors for a seamless installation
  • Manage project budget and implement cost savings initiatives as needed to ensure on budget or under budget execution
  • Present and report to leadership on the health and status of venues.
