About The Position

WSP USA, Inc is seeking an experienced environmental professional with a strong professional network, technical skills and a proven history of successfully completing sales in a seller/doer capacity. This individual will interface with both internal and external clients; be dynamic, creative, quality driven, have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; and be a proactive problem solver. The WSP Portland, Maine Office offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US from the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city. The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 10 years of environmental consulting experience in the fields of environmental engineering, environmental science, geology and/or hydrogeology. A thorough understanding of current state and federal environmental regulations (RCRA, CERCLA…) and the ability to forecasts and advise on regulatory trends is a must. A successful candidate will be supported by a wide range of technical professionals within the Portland office and the greater WSP USA network.

Requirements

  • BS or MS degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, geology or related field.
  • Professional licensure or certification
  • 10+ years’ environmental consulting experience including project management and sales.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP® Certification
  • Project experience related to resiliency and sustainability
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Developing existing and new clients via a strong business development acumen and interpersonal skills.
  • Managing several projects simultaneously.
  • Directing support staff and technical professionals on project specific tasks.
  • Mentoring junior staff.
  • Senior Technical Reviewer within the area of expertise (e.g. ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings and technical specifications).
  • Preparation of project permitting documents for local, state and federal permits.
  • Interacting with coworkers, clients, and prospective clients while conducting work in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Strong dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and promoting company safety culture.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if/as required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to meet clients and see project sites.
