About The Position

Owens & Minor is seeking a Products Data Lead to serve as the trusted-data and insight engine of the product organization. The role owns product master data “lighthouse” attributes and the calculation methodologies behind metrics that support product strategy. Its initial mandate is to establish a governed source of product master data, including a master hierarchy, attributes, and contract data, while fixing methodologies for core product metrics such as profitability and its drivers, end-market penetration, product cross-referencing, and pricing. The role will then redefine Product KPIs to align with ELT strategy and value proposition work, and create a fact pack connecting analyses to the resulting North Star KPIs. The position works upstream of the ops-data analytics team and partners closely with Product GMs. It is expected to help make product data initiatives measurable and traceable to North Star EBITDA, shifting the organization from backward-looking reporting to forward-looking transparency and accountability. The scope may expand to include the product master data lighthouse and, for a successful candidate, leadership of the full data team. The role launches as an individual contributor and may grow into building and leading a commercial-analytics team. The role owns product master data methodology and governance, including hierarchy logic and its interfaces with finance, operations, commercial, and sourcing; calculation methodology and the source of truth for derived product metrics; Product KPI design; and a model linking commercial transformation initiatives to their EBITDA impact. It recommends methods to identify growth, margin improvement, and portfolio optimization opportunities, as well as AI applications for faster data tracing and insight generation. It informs product margin and master data initiatives and advises cross-functional and Finance leaders on data-quality gaps, stewardship, and methodology changes that affect reported numbers. Remote work is possible, with approximately 25% travel to Richmond. The anticipated salary is $120,000 USD annually; actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, education, and location.

  • 5–10+ years of experience in commercial or sales analytics, data science, or master data management.
  • Working command of master data management and a clear understanding of the distinctions between master, reference, and derived data.
  • Demonstrated ability to define a calculation methodology and defend it to Finance and commercial leaders.
  • Strong SQL and analytics-tooling skills, fluency with the modern data stack, and Power BI skills for last-mile reporting.
  • Ability to design KPIs that change behavior, combining technical depth with commercial acumen.
  • Ability to lead and influence across commercial, ops-data, IT, and Finance without direct authority.

  • Create a product-strategy fact pack whose analyses connect to the North Star KPIs.
  • Own product master data methodology and governance, including hierarchy logic and interfaces with finance, operations, commercial, and sourcing.
  • Create and maintain an initiative-tracking model that links commercial transformation initiatives to Finance-owned EBITDA impacts and rolls them up to the North Star.

  • Inform Product Margin Up strategy in support of Project Rocketman and Product Master Data Management in support of Project Astra.

  • Influence the ops-data analytics team's build without direct management responsibility.
