About The Position

Teradyne is seeking a Lead Product Safety and Compliance Engineer for their Power Test Division in Deer Park, IL. This role is responsible for leading day-to-day safety and EMC compliance activities for all projects within the division. The engineer will integrate with design teams to conduct early risk assessments and pre-compliance work, coordinate internal and external testing, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards such as CE, NRTL, SEMI, and others. The position involves conducting product safety analysis, providing formal safety recommendations, maintaining compliance documentation (Test Reports, CDF, TCF), coordinating EMC pre-compliance and validation, and benchmarking best practices. Domestic and international travel may be required, up to 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in product safety and compliance engineering.
  • Strong understanding of IEC/EN 61010-1 standards.
  • Basic understanding of EMC principles to communicate best practices and interface with test labs.
  • Hands-on ability to perform product safety testing.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams and drive compliance initiatives to closure.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience leading teams is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SEMI S2/S8 and IEC 60825-1 standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot EMC test failures and recommend design improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage product safety and EMC compliance activities across all Power Test Division projects.
  • Integrate with design teams to drive early risk assessment and pre-compliance work.
  • Coordinate internal and external testing events, including interfacing with certification suppliers, competent bodies, and test labs.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate safety and EMC-related regulations and standards, including CE, NRTL, SEMI, and others.
  • Conduct product safety analysis from circuit-level schematics/wiring diagrams to system-level designs.
  • Provide formal safety recommendations to engineering teams based on analysis.
  • Ensure continuing compliance by maintaining Test Reports, Constructional Data Forms (CDF), and Technical Construction Files (TCF).
  • Coordinate EMC pre-compliance and validation activities.
  • Benchmark and implement best practices for safety and EMC compliance.
