Lead Product Designer

PeblPalo Alto, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

We’re looking for a proactive and accomplished Lead Product Designer to join our Product Design team. This role sits at the intersection of design systems and product design, owning and evolving our design system while also applying it to solve meaningful product challenges. The ideal candidate brings a systems-thinking mindset, strong product intuition, and a passion for creating scalable, consistent, and high-quality user experiences. You’ll help define how we design at Pebl—ensuring our design system empowers teams, moving towards an AI lead system and process, while staying grounded in real product needs and user outcomes. This is a hybrid position based in Palo Alto, California. The expectation is in-office presence three days per week, Monday-Wednesday.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, HCI, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in product design, with meaningful experience contributing to or owning design systems
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating both design systems work and end-to-end product design
  • Experience partnering closely with engineering to bring systems to life in code
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards and scalable design practices
  • Ability to balance consistency with flexibility—knowing when to standardize vs. customize
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a team-first mindset
  • Comfort operating in fast-paced environments and navigating ambiguity

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve Pebl’s design system, including components, patterns, documentation, and governance
  • Work with the team to shift the process and code based system into a seamless AI lead toolkit
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and design to ensure the system is adopted, scalable, and aligned to real product use cases
  • Contribute directly to product design work—applying and extending the system to solve end-to-end user problems
  • Identify gaps in the system through product work and translate them into reusable patterns and improvements
  • Drive consistency, accessibility, and quality across all product experiences
  • Establish best practices for system usage, contribution models, and design-to-development workflows
  • Lead initiatives that improve design efficiency, velocity, and cross-team alignment
  • Mentor designers on both system thinking and product design craft
  • Collaborate on and influence product strategy, bringing a systems lens to complex and ambiguous problem spaces

Benefits

  • Flexible Time Off
  • Parental Leave
  • Health and Dental Insurance
  • Retirement Savings + Employee Incentive Plan
