About The Position

The Lead Product Analyst is Instrumentl's first dedicated analytics hire. This role will be responsible for building the analytics function from the ground up, including defining standards, selecting tools, establishing KPIs, and designing the experimentation framework. The role involves approximately 60% of time embedded with Growth squads (Acquisition + Activation) to design experiments, prioritize hypotheses, and analyze results. The remaining 40% will focus on building out the semantic layer in Omni and creating source-of-truth dashboards for self-service by PMs, designers, and Sales. This position will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and the Data Platform team to ensure rigorous experiments, accurate data pipelines, and insights that drive ARR and efficiency gains. The role reports to the VP of Finance.

Requirements

  • Founding-analyst profile: experience as the sole analyst or first analytics hire, having built a function from the ground up.
  • 5+ years in product, growth, or analytics at a SaaS or PLG company.
  • Expert SQL (BigQuery preferred).
  • Hands-on experience with a modern BI tool (Omni, Looker, Mode, or Tableau experience translates).
  • Hands-on experience with Heap (preferred) or comparable event tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel) to validate tracking end to end.
  • Comfortable designing A/B tests, applying statistical rigor, and interpreting results.
  • Working knowledge of Python or R for deeper analysis.
  • Ability to connect insights to financial outcomes (activation, conversion, retention) and influence Product and Growth roadmaps.
  • Clear communication skills to turn complex analyses into concise, actionable narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or scaling a company-wide experimentation program.
  • Exposure to financial or operational analytics such as CAC payback, ROI attribution, or funnel contribution modeling.
  • Familiarity with modern data stack tools like dbt, Fivetran, or Airflow.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Growth squads (Acquisition + Activation) to design experiments, prioritize hypotheses, and analyze results.
  • Own the experimentation framework end-to-end, including design, statistical rigor, readouts, and decision-making.
  • Build out the semantic layer in Omni to enable self-service analytics for PMs, designers, and Sales.
  • Develop source-of-truth dashboards connecting product and growth metrics to ARR, activation, retention, and ROI.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data Platform to validate tracking, schemas, and pipelines across Heap, BigQuery, and Omni.
  • Translate complex analyses into concise, actionable narratives for technical and non-technical audiences across Product, Growth, and Leadership.
