Lead Process Engineer

Honeywell Aerospace•San Diego, CA

About The Position

Develop industrial processes for Microelectronics, with an emphasis on laser welding of aluminum packages, hermetic testing using an optical leak tester, and finishing processes such as paint and marking with inks or label equipment. Support systems to operate effectively within specified safety and cost constraints and ensure products meet quality requirements. Evaluate and analyze processes related to issues in electronic systems and assemblies, and determine and implement corrective actions to improve processes. The role oversees multiple downstream process labs and supports development, supplier source selection, and resolution of production difficulties. It works with electrical and mechanical engineers and material suppliers to improve product manufacturability, and is accountable for yields in highly complex processes. The engineer develops capable processes, creates and releases documentation, conducts and analyzes Design of Experiments, contributes fixture design concepts, and participates in design reviews from concept through production readiness. The role also mentors less experienced process engineers and follows applicable safety policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or a related Physics discipline.
  • Seven years of process engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of Electrical/RF Engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person, defined as a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, due to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
