About The Position

The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for owning and improving manufacturing processes to deliver safe, stable, capable, and efficient production. This role provides technical leadership for process performance across an assigned value stream or product portfolio, with accountability for process definition, standardization, control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. This position will have an initial focus on implementing and sustaining Built in Quality (BIQ) within the manufacturing process. The Lead Process Engineer will partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and related engineering functions to embed quality at the point of manufacture through robust process controls, standard work, reaction plans, error-proofing, and disciplined problem solving. Over time, the role will maintain broad ownership for process capability, throughput, yield, cost, and operational stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 2 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing or sustaining Built in Quality (BIQ), error-proofing, process controls, or defect prevention systems
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process engineering principles, including process capability, variation reduction, standard work, and control methods
  • Experience with root cause analysis and structured problem solving methods such as 8D, 5 Why, A3, or similar
  • Experience using Lean and/or Six Sigma tools to drive measurable improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that reduce defects, scrap, rework, and downtime
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to translate trends into actionable process improvements
  • Experience developing and improving process documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, PFMEAs, control plans, and reaction plans
  • Ability to influence across Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering functions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and technical leadership skills
  • Hands-on, floor-focused approach to implementation and sustainment
  • Experience supporting equipment/process validation, new process introduction, or industrialization is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Embrace and promote a culture where work is performed with an overriding priority on safety, quality, delivery, and cost
  • Own manufacturing process performance for assigned area(s), including process capability, stability, output, yield, and productivity
  • Lead the implementation and sustainment of Built in Quality (BIQ) principles within assigned process areas
  • Develop, standardize, and improve manufacturing processes, including process parameters, work methods, standard work, reaction plans, and control strategies
  • Drive process discipline to ensure quality is built into the process rather than relying solely on downstream inspection
  • Identify and implement opportunities for error-proofing, containment prevention, visual controls, layered process review support, and operator-guided quality controls
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues impacting safety, quality, delivery, and cost, and lead timely corrective actions
  • Use data and structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes of variation, defects, scrap, rework, and downtime
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects focused on yield, first pass quality, cycle time, throughput, and process reliability
  • Partner with Quality to ensure process controls are effective, corrective actions are sustained, and process changes are validated
  • Partner with Manufacturing to drive practical, operator-centered solutions at the point of impact
  • Support development and maintenance of process documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, control plans, FMEAs, standard work, and training materials
  • Evaluate process performance using appropriate metrics and data analysis tools; establish actions to close performance gaps
  • Support introduction of new products, new equipment, and process changes through process development, validation, qualification, and implementation
  • Provide technical leadership during equipment selection, design reviews, installation, testing, and start-up as needed
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to execute process improvements and remove barriers to implementation
  • Train and coach operations teams on process controls, standards, and BIQ expectations
  • Lead from the floor with a hands-on approach to process confirmation, issue resolution, and sustainment of improvements
