Lead Process Engineer

Honeywell Aerospace•San Diego, CA
•$139,000 - $174,000

About The Position

At Honeywell Aerospace, the Lead Process Engineer develops and improves industrial processes for microelectronics, with an emphasis on laser welding of aluminum packages, hermetic testing with an optical leak tester, and finishing processes such as painting and marking. The role supports systems operating effectively within safety and cost constraints while ensuring products meet desired quality standards. It also evaluates and analyzes process issues in electronic systems and assemblies, then determines and implements corrective actions. The engineer oversees multiple downstream process laboratories and supports process development, supplier source selection, and resolution of production difficulties. The work spans laser and seam sealing, laser cutting and drilling of various materials, painting and marking electronic assemblies, and the use of adhesives and thermal-transfer compounds. The role works closely with engineering teams and material suppliers, develops capable processes and formal documentation, conducts statistically analyzed Design of Experiments, contributes fixture design concepts, and participates in design reviews from concept through production readiness. The position also provides guidance to less experienced process engineers and follows applicable safety policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physical science, or a physics-related discipline.
  • Seven years of process engineering experience and knowledge of electrical/RF engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
