About The Position

Oracle is seeking a Lead Principal Electrical Engineer focused on data center electrical systems. The role provides technical leadership for advanced electrical architectures, from strategic roadmaps and high-level design decisions through detailed design, validation, production, and sustaining engineering. It balances performance, security, reliability, power efficiency, thermal management, manufacturability, compliance, and cost while guiding the adoption of emerging technologies. The engineer leads high-impact initiatives and design reviews, establishes component-selection and system-optimization practices, and serves as an authority on integrating electrical subsystems with firmware, software, and diagnostics. The role also leads validation strategies, prototype testing, failure analysis, customer escalations, alternate-component qualification, and end-of-life responses. It develops documentation frameworks and processes, drives innovation and continuous improvement, mentors engineers, and collaborates with organizational leaders and external stakeholders. As needed, the role also shapes global safety, EMC, and environmental compliance strategy, regulatory readiness, and compliance documentation tools.

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategic electrical-system architectures and establish technical roadmaps aligned with product strategy and industry advancements.
  • Guide adoption of emerging technologies and make high-level design decisions that balance performance, security, reliability, power efficiency, thermal management, manufacturability, and future needs.
  • Define component-selection strategies and system-wide optimization frameworks in alignment with technical standards, manufacturing feasibility, and performance requirements.
  • Lead initiatives from concept to production using modeling, simulation, and design analysis.
  • Provide expert consultation in system design reviews and establish guidelines for CAD integration and board layout.
  • Resolve complex component escalations and make strategic decisions regarding quality, compliance, and integration.
  • Establish best practices for electrical subsystem integration and promote innovation across firmware, software, and diagnostics teams.
  • Implement validation strategies and assist with automation-driven validation platforms.
  • Lead and mentor teams conducting test plans, prototype analysis, and hardware issue resolution.
  • Perform risk assessment and failure analysis to ensure technical and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Lead sustaining engineering, including customer escalations, root-cause analysis, alternate-component qualification, and end-of-life issues.
  • Develop enterprise-wide technical documentation frameworks and practices.
  • Lead formal design reviews and serve as the primary technical authority on electrical design trade-offs.
  • Contribute to research, development, thought leadership, engineering communities, mentorship, knowledge sharing, and technology roadmaps.
  • As needed, shape electrical hardware compliance strategy for global safety, EMC, and environmental regulations; advise leadership on compliance risks and opportunities; integrate regulatory requirements into hardware architecture; and establish pre-compliance testing and certification-readiness frameworks.
  • Interpret emerging global standards, guide regulatory-change readiness and compliance practices, and develop tools for managing compliance documentation.
  • Direct timelines, deliverables, and budgets when applicable for critical projects, anticipating resource and schedule changes as business priorities shift.
  • Influence cross-functional leaders and external stakeholders, build partnerships, and incorporate diverse perspectives.
  • Lead advanced problem-solving for complex or ambiguous issues, identify root causes, and implement preventative solutions.
  • Monitor industry trends and standards, share knowledge, promote professional development, and mentor others.
  • Develop and implement process improvements, evaluate their effectiveness, and create metrics to measure success.
  • Support talent strategy and development through interviews, candidate assessment, hiring decisions, and knowledge-sharing.
