About The Position

Are you an EEC certified preschool teacher who is passionate about creating a welcoming environment that nurtures every child’s potential and development? If so, consider applying to join our Early Childhood Education team at the Greendale Family Branch in the Wee Wuns Preschool Program.

Requirements

  • Must hold EEC Lead Teacher Preschool certification and meet DEEC, NAEYC, and QRIS education/experience requirements.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age required.
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or evidence of enrollment in a degree program (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • Current certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Ability to build strong, authentic relationships with diverse families and community members.
  • Physically able to participate in children’s activities, playground supervision, evacuation drills, and lift children when needed.
  • Must provide evidence of physical examination and health clearance every two years, proof of negative Mantoux test, and documentation of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella.
  • Within 30 days of hire: completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of and uphold NAEYC and DEEC standards.
  • Collaborate with the Wee Wuns Coordinator to design and create curriculum and daily lesson/activity plans that support a developmentally appropriate program.
  • Supervise children, the classroom environment, teachers and teacher assistants, and daily activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children while engaging parent volunteers.
  • Make systematic observations and conduct evaluations of each child according to the required schedule.
  • Conduct parent conferences and maintain positive, professional communication with families.
  • Keep accurate program records (attendance, medical, food service).
  • Attend and participate in family events, staff meetings, professional development trainings, and YMCA community events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by a supervisor.
