About The Position

The Goddard School of Flemington is hiring a dedicated and experienced Lead Teacher to join our growing team. For over 25 years, our school has served families in Flemington and the surrounding Hunterdon County community. We are looking for an educator who takes pride in creating an engaging classroom, building meaningful relationships with children and families, and helping young learners grow through purposeful play and exploration. We believe great classrooms start with great teachers—and we want our teachers to have the support, stability, and opportunities they need to succeed. This role offers consistent weekday hours with no nights or weekends.

Requirements

  • Dependable, professional, and genuinely enjoys working with young children
  • Previous experience in a preschool, childcare center, or early childhood education environment
  • Approximately 1–2+ years of relevant classroom experience preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to confidently lead a classroom
  • Excellent communication skills with families and coworkers
  • A collaborative, dependable, and positive approach
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and nurturing learning environment

Nice To Haves

  • CDA, Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, or a related field is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
  • Create a warm, organized, nurturing, and safe classroom environment
  • Support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development
  • Encourage learning through play, exploration, and discovery
  • Build positive relationships with children and families
  • Maintain regular and professional communication with parents
  • Observe and document children's developmental progress
  • Guide and collaborate with Assistant Teachers and classroom support staff
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and expectations
  • Follow New Jersey childcare licensing, health, and safety requirements
  • Participate in professional development and ongoing training
