About The Position

GE Power Conversion provides Electrical power conversion systems for various renewables, industry, marine, and Oil & Gas applications. Typical scope includes MV & LV drives, motors, transformers, E-house, switchgear, and control as well as the associated power systems engineering. The Lead Systems Engineer will be expected to lead complex marine electrical integration projects for new and existing construction vessels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering disciplines
  • 5 years experience in power electronics or power systems

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related engineering field
  • Ability to working with cross functional and multi-disciplinary engineering team
  • Ability to effectively manage projects with minimal managerial direction required
  • Must be highly organized
  • Ability to communicate clearly especially in technical presentations and meetings
  • Inspirational worker with the ability to obtain results
  • Motivated self-starter that will own objectives from customers and management
  • Proven ability to lead distributed efforts/projects with wide ranging topics including drives and system integration

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with key marine customers
  • Work with GE site engineer(s) at customer facility
  • Work with customer to develop specifications
  • Assist customer in planning activities
  • Lead the establishment of on-site GE installation and commissioning teams
  • Provide project leadership for programs under execution
  • Ensure marine electrical system designs meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate engineering efforts with manufacturing, sourcing, field services, and key vendors
  • Work closely with GE Principal engineers and experts to manage risk
  • Communicate risks, issues, and overall progress to appropriate levels of the organization
  • Ensure proper engineering resources are available for project teams, and work with management to address any shortfalls
