About The Position

GE Vernova’s Power Conversion & Storage business combines advanced energy conversion and storage systems to meet the electrification needs of utilities and industries. With a focus on power stability, energy storage and industrial electrification solutions, Power Conversion & Storage empowers customers by addressing their most complex electrification challenges and accelerating their transition to a sustainable, decarbonized future. Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited university or college in the field of electrical engineering with about 3 years of advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Electrical Engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of transformers and polyphase motors.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics and static converters, including rectifiers, inverters, and VSDs.
  • Expertise in Field-Oriented Control (FOC) of electric motors.
  • Knowledge of PWM technologies (H3, GDPWM, SVM, etc.).
  • Experience in system modeling (Transformer + VFD + Motor).

Responsibilities

  • Design and size key system components such as transformers, DFE, AFE, MB, and input/output filters to meet specifications and standards.
  • Develop vector control programs for power bridges (IGBT or thyristor) connected to various loads (e.g., machines or grids).
  • Define machine sequences based on technical constraints and customer process requirements; develop integrated control solutions for applications such as marine propulsion, rolling mills, and compressors.
  • Validate programs on real-time systems during integration tests.
  • Adapt and define electrotechnical models for HIL tests using RT-LAB real-time simulators, optimizing hardware resources.
  • Provide remote or on-site commissioning support as needed.
