About The Position

Works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, following standard procedures to accomplish assigned tasks. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department, assisting the supervising pharmacist with staff training and development, task assignment for workload balance, and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies. The Lead Pharmacy Technician assists professional staff in triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions, managing pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables, and aiding in the hiring and training of new employees.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or currently enrolled) or GED
  • Registered with the State of Vermont as a Pharmacy Technician (for Vermont Employees)
  • Drug test
  • Initial and continuous exclusion and sanction/disciplinary monitoring
  • Any and all additional eligibility requirements based on the specific position

Responsibilities

  • Answering telephones
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of pharmacy technology, including product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps
  • Inventory management, including ordering & receiving processes, inventory freshness, return to stocks, and cycle counting
  • Regulatory & Operational Compliance, ensuring proficiency in all state and federal regulations and company operational policies & procedures
  • Executing the plan by learning and understanding specific aspects of the pharmacy management system (reception and release to patient queues) and POS system, following instructions, and completing tasks with urgency
  • Maintaining quality focus by understanding and embracing the Quality Assurance Policy & Procedures, patient care programs, and cash controls
  • Ensuring that every prescription has been checked by a pharmacist prior to dispensing
  • Assisting in the initial submission and resubmission of all third-party claims
  • Locating prescription files and other manual records from storage
  • Preparing and filing manual records for pharmacist signatures and review
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • Assisting and overseeing all aspects of pharmacy workflow (Data Entry to Customer Pickup)
  • Ensuring all pharmacy staff provides quality customer service
  • Staying current with all State and Federal requirements, as well as corporate goals and initiatives
  • Completing all mandatory and regulatory training programs
  • Assisting the supervising pharmacist with monitoring and reporting quality assurance events
  • Assisting the supervising pharmacist with pharmacy inventory tasks such as returns, outdates, and transmission and receiving of all orders from our supplier
